HILLVIEW CYTOLOGY LABORATORY RELOCATION PROJECT
STANFORD HOSPITAL AND CLINICS
Palo Alto, CA

The Cytology Laboratory relocation from the hospital to Stanford’s existing offsite laboratory facility on Hillview Avenue in Palo Alto, CA was an enabling project that provided the expansion space required for Stanford’s Clinical Laboratory Replacement Project. The substantial usage of flammables for the Cytology Lab’s processes resulted in the addition of three new fume hoods and upgrades to the building’s existing HVAC system. Due to the age of the existing building, upgrades were required for the parking spaces and toilet rooms to comply with the current accessibility requirements of the California Building Code.

SETON MEDICAL CENTER CLINICAL LAB AUTOMATION LINE INSTALLATION AND LAB RENOVATION,
Daly City, Ca

GL Planning & Design, Inc. (GLP) provided design services for this complex clinical lab renovation that required numerous construction phases in order to allow the clinical lab functions to remain fully operational throughout the construction period. GLP worked closely with lab users to fully script out the sequential steps of renovation including which spaces the contractor had control of, which spaces were in the Lab’s control and which spaces were shared by both for each construction phase. GLP shared duties with Ratcliff Architects on this project with GLP being responsible for laboratory renovation and Ratcliff being responsible for OSHPD permitting.

UC BERKELEY HELEN WILLIS MOODY NEUROSCIENCE INSTITUTE LABORATORY REMODEL, BARKER HALL
Berkeley, CA
The Neuroscience Institute was a 20,000 sq. ft. fit-up. It fills the first two floors of Barker Hall on the UC Berkeley campus, which had been entirely emptied for a seismic upgrade project. Each floor is organized around a ‘suite’ design which promotes casual interaction. The project also included administrative areas, neuroscience test and exam rooms, wet labs, computational neuroscience labs and a brain imaging center computer room.
