UC Irvine Reines Hall Renovation
Formerly Physical Sciences, Unit 2
Irvine, CA

The Physical Sciences 2 (PS2) project included a six-story chemistry and physics lab building, a 450-seat lecture hall building and a classroom building. The lab building is comprised of a chemistry wing and a physics wing connected by a vertical core that houses vertical circulation and common functions. The project included over 160 chemical fume hoods in the chemistry wing. The lab building’s HVAC System was variable volume with the fume hoods having two position dampers to restrict airflow when not in use. (This project was completed by Martin Gicklhorn while employed by MBT Assoc.)
