Charles King, San Francisco AIA, LEED AP, Associate Principal, Project Manager
Charles has worked as an architect for more than 25 years and has over 17 years’ experience in the planning, design, management and coordination of healthcare and research projects. He has been responsible for project leadership and client interaction for large complex projects for prominent institutions including, Harvard University, VA Medical Center, Stanford University and CPMC. Charles is skilled at leading project teams through all phases of the design process from entitlements, initial conceptual design and planning through construction. He is a team-oriented leader dedicated to good design and establishing good working alliances between owner representatives, consultants, contractors, and code officials to foster collaboration and maintain the schedule. Charles’ deep understanding of code requirements, contract responsibilities, industry standards and best practices along with extensive field experience enables him to manage large complex construction projects. For his assigned projects he leads the design and delivery process to ensure that the client’s program requirements and design goals & schedule are understood, met and maintained.

Charles has completed a number of award winning and published projects. A multi-disciplinary science building for Harvard University he completed while working at SOM received High Honors in the 2009 Lab of the Year award program. While at SOM he was the project architect for Kings County Hospital Phase 2 in Brooklyn, NY which received a 2007 Honorable Mention Modern Healthcare award. His design for the Blue Heron Nature Center won an Award for Excellence in Design from the Art Commission of the City of New York and an AIA Merit Award.
